Poor Chloe Madeley was left red-faced as she admitted she’s had ‘many’ awkward incidents with her dad Richard Madeley as he goes commando.
In an uncomfortable overshare, the Good Morning Britain presenter revealed years ago that he hasn’t worn underwear in decades.
Turns out this has meant his daughter Chloe, 38, has caught an unfortunate eyeful over the years.
The father-daughter duo were on Romesh Ranganathan’s Parents Evening, when Richard, 69, was asked about his pant-free ways.
Romesh asked if he ‘hangs loose’, prompting Richard to explain he’s been going commando since his early 30s.
‘I don’t know why, I just suddenly found that boxers, and budgy smugglers, and all of that, they just chafe,’ he explained.
‘Right? So I got rid of them. And I’ve never looked back.’
Romesh then asked Chloe if this was news to her, to which she revealed: ‘No, no, no. We had many, um, incidents with… You know.’
Going a little red in the face, she continued: ‘When I would walk into the kitchen late at night, and then immediately just walking straight back out again.’
Richard first revealed his underwear choices while on Good Morning Britain in 2018, shocking audiences.
He and Kate Garraway were discussing control pants when she asked: ‘I thought you went commando?’
‘I haven’t worn boxer shorts for decades. It’s much more comfortable,’ he admitted before warning: ‘I do shower regularly.’
Viewers joked that they ‘choked on their cornflakes’ at the candid conversation.
Chloe is the youngest child of Richard and his wife Judy, 77, with the couple also sharing a son, Jack, born in 1986.
Richard is also stepdad to twins Dan and Tom from Judy’s first marriage to David Henshaw, which he recently spoke about on Matt Willis’ podcast.
‘Judy and I worked together for years before we even talked about the prospect of getting together,’ he shared.
On an upcoming episode of On the Mend, the presenter said his now-wife’s top priority was her kids when they first discussed moving in with each other.
He recalled: ‘When it became clear that we were falling for each other and we were tentatively beginning to talk about maybe having a life together, “you’ve got to understand I come in a three pack – it’s me and Tom and Dan”. And I took that very seriously.’
The couple first met in 1982 while working for Granada TV, and then they tied the knot four years later, before going on to work together on This Morning.
‘Judy was really concerned that I knew what I was doing as far as being a stepdad was concerned, because the boys were going to live with her,’ he said.
Richard took a solo holiday to Greece for two weeks to think about the situation and whether he was ready to become a father.
‘I needed to know that I could deliver and that I meant it, that I really meant it,’ he continued.
‘So I went away for two weeks and just thought – basically sat on a beach for two weeks and just thought quite deeply about the future and about how I felt about it. And I felt very comfortable with it.
‘And I went back and told her that. I mean, the boys were adorable. They were only seven at that stage, and they were absolutely adorable.’
