Stranger Things fans never miss a trick in their dissection of the hit Netflix series – and no erroneus editing stones have gone unturned.

One savvy Reddit user has noticed a mistake in the wardrobe of Holly Wheeler in S5E7, which dropped on Christmas Day alongside episodes five and six.

While the next and final ever episode of the much-loved supernatural series is landing on New Year’s Day, fans have enjoyed the most recent drop, taking them one step closer to finding out whether Hawkins’ finest child minds have managed to vanquish evil Vecna.

Spoilers for the latest episodes of Stranger Things ahead.

While the Duffer Brothers’ series is set in 1987, one fan noticed a sports brand founded in the 1990s featured on Holly Wheeler’s arm in episode 7.

Fans spotted an Under Armour logo sticking out like a sore thumb on the sleeve of Nell Fisher’s character Holly, who has a starring role for the final instalment, having played a minor character in the seasons up until the fifth.

One Reddit user kaleeks said: ‘I spotted an Under Armour logo on Holly’s undershirt while she is struggling to free herself after waking back up in her physical body. S5 takes place in 1987 and a quick google search shows that Under Armour wasn’t founded until 1996.

‘I’ve read somewhere that the Duffers have stated that everything is intentional down to wardrobe choices, but this just seems like an accidental wardrobe malfunction to me.’

It’s true, fans have read into everything in the series – down to little wardrobe clues – to decipher the events of the final episode, and what will become of Will Buyers and his friends as they navigate their real-life Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

It does seem this was a rare unintentional slip up, as the episode now does not feature the logo, indicating it’s been edited out of the show now.

‘NETFLIX HAS JUST COVERED IT UP IN THE EPISODE. I CHECKED IT THIS MORNING AND IT WAS THERE. NOW IT’S NOT,’ wrote eagle eyed Suspicious-Grade1427

‘You’re so right LOL,’ said the original poster, continuing: ‘Well, that confirms it was just an undergarment Nell Fisher was wearing to combat the cold, gooey slime prop she was inside of, I’d assume.’

The final episode left fans on a cliffhanger, as the gang prepare to banish Vecner – and the evil Mindflayer – into another dimension once and for all in a plan concocted by Steve Harrington (Joe Keery).

It’s long been teased there will be a big death in the final series, and fans are worried Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven could meet that fate, as she and her sister Kali Prasad (Linnea Berthelsen) plot to end the cycle of evil created by their ‘dad’ Martin Brenner, who held them captive for much of their lives in the name of a psychopathic science experiment.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things first aired in 2016 and also stars Beetlejuice actress Winona Ryder, and actors Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer and Maya Hawke.

The series release was plagued by some controversy, after the drop of Lily Allen’s West End Girl album, which in a blend of ‘fact and fiction’ detailed her fraught divorce from star of the show David Harbour, who plays trusty cop Hopper in the series.

It was then claimed the show’s biggest breakout star Millie brought a bullying accusation against Harbour, though they put on a united front after reports circulated.

‘It will be a theatrical event,’ a Netflix source said of the drama alongside the final season. ‘Nothing is going to overshadow this, not even the leading man’s private life.’

The source also added: ‘Netflix will never comment on an internal investigation, but the fact they’ve not denied it speaks volumes.

‘Stranger Things helped put Netflix on the map. Millions of fans around the world have been anticipating the finale. No one wants anything to take attention away from that.’

Since its release, the franchise has expanded into a play, titled Stranger Things: The First Shadow, as well as an upcoming animated spin-off, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85.

The final episode of Stranger Things will stream on Netflix on New Year’s Day alongside all other episodes.
