Expect more Silent Hill on a regular basis, as Konami aims to release a new game in the series every single year.

After being left dormant for a decade following 2012’s Silent Hill Downpour, Silent Hill has made a big comeback over recent years.

While experimental efforts like Silent Hill: Ascension and The Short Message technically marked the series’ return, the past two games, Silent Hill 2 remake and Silent Hill f, have put the survival horror franchise back on the map, with the latter being far better than many expected.

All four of these games have been released since 2023, and according to series producer Motoi Okamoto, Konami is aiming to release a new Silent Hill title every year.

In an interview with Famitsu, as translated by Genki on X, Okamoto said: ‘Continuing from the release of Silent Hill 2 in October 2024, we were able to deliver Silent Hill f in September 2025, putting the Silent Hill series back on track.

‘Including announced and unannounced titles, we aim to release titles at a pace of about one title per year.’

He added: ‘While it remains to be seen how much we can achieve this, I will do my best as the producer of the Silent Hill series. Ideally, we’d like to see excitement for Silent Hill continue to build. We’ll do our best to provide you with new updates, so we kindly ask for your patience a little longer.’

We know Konami has two Silent Hill titles currently in development. After 2024’s Silent Hill 2, developer Bloober Team is working on a remake of the original. Screen Burn, meanwhile, is developing Silent Hill: Townfall, which is rumoured to launch in 2026.

The mention of ‘unannounced’ titles, however, suggests we could see more projects crop up over the next couple of years beyond these two games.

Okamoto directed 2024’s Silent Hill: The Short Message at Konami, so he could be working on another smaller title in the series. Similarly, NeoBards Entertainment, the team behind Silent Hill f, will hopefully be given a chance to work on another new entry, although that likely won’t emerge until 2028 or later.

Even beyond games, it’s a promising time to be a Silent Hill fan. Return To Silent Hill, the third movie adaptation, is set to be released in cinemas on January 23 next year. It is based on Silent Hill 2, with Jeremy Irvine starring in the lead role as James Sunderland.

Konami’s investment in Silent Hill might be surprising considering the franchise has never been a huge seller (Silent Hill 2 remake has sold 2.5 million copies, versus Resident Evil 4’s 10 million copies) but it’s clear they’re trying to elevate the series to a level equivalent to Capcom’s Resident Evil.
