A contestant from this season of BBC’s The Traitors has revealed they were stopped by police after making a strange request.
The Traitors cast might expect some heat on them at the round table, but this treacherous player accidentally invited some real interrogation from authorities.
They have revealed they were confronted by the police after a misunderstanding that caused officers to question what was going on.
Fiona, 62, may have joked on the show about ‘shoplifting in Marks’, but it turns out she has had an actual encounter with officers.
The banished Traitor told presenter Ed Gamble on The Traitors: Uncloaked that after asking for a ‘burner phone’ in a shop, two police officers turned up to ask why she wanted such a thing.
After Ed began discussing with Fiona how she was going to deal with ‘post-Traitors fame’, especially the social media side of things, the local government officer went on to explain her son was running her Instagram, because she ‘hasn’t got a clue about anything like that’.
It seems that Fiona had been taking guidance on how best to approach the beast that is the online world – a wise move.

However, she got some questionable advice that led her into a sticky situation.
‘Somebody told me not to have it [social media] on my own mobile phone, but to get a burner phone.’
She admitted that she thought it was ‘only drug addicts and gun dealers’ that used those second devices, but her adviser was adamant she needed one.
Fiona explained, much to the amusement of guests Charlotte Church, series one Traitor Amanda, and season 4 Faithful Reece, that she went into a local shop and asked for one.
As the shopkeeper went into the back to fulfil her request, the 62-year-old described how two police officers turned up and asked her to confirm if she had in fact, asked for a burner phone.
To which she replied: ‘Yes, the man’s gone out the back to get it.’
Fiona says she was questioned why she wanted it, and she told them it was for social media.
They still seemed perplexed as to why she’d used that terminology, and hadn’t asked for a pay as you go phone.
‘They’re clearly trying to set you up Fiona’, Ed joked.
‘I mean do I look like the type?’, she replied.
Amanda quipped: ‘You didn’t look like a Traitor, Fiona.’
The Traitors: Uncloaked returns next Wednesday at 9.05pm on BBC One.
