The actor Thomas Kent, known as T.K. Carter, was found dead in his home in Duarte, California at age 69.
He was known for his roles in horror film The Thing and the animation Space Jam.
He also played Mike Fulton in the sitcom Punky Brewster.
The cause of death has not been released, but no foul play is suspected.
A 9-1-1 call was made at 5.42pm on Friday, before the actor was found dead, according to TMZ.
Metro has reached out to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for comment.
Carter made his on-screen debut in 1976 with an episode of NBC’s Police Woman.
He was born in New York, but grew up outside of Los Angeles, where he started his career as a comedian aged 12.
Fans have taken to X to share their tributes.
