After an edge-of-your-seat banishment, The Traitors star Amanda has cleared up a secret connection theory that fans are running wild with.
The BBC reality series took another dramatic twist after retired detective Amanda was the unlucky Faithful to get the boot after a tense round table that ended with the chests of chance where she was up against Reece.
Ever since the first episode, there has been rampant speculation about everyone in the cast having a secret link to someone else.
We’ve already seen mother-and-daughter duo Roxy and Judy, and partners Ellie and Ross (both pairs have now been torn asunder). But some viewers think Amanda could be related to sweet shop assistant Reece.
Addressing this theory, she told Metro with a smile: ‘Reece is going to be a friend of life. I absolutely adore Reece. He reminds me of my brother [who] passed away at the age of 32 in 2011. Reece is the spitting image.
‘We got on so well, and it was very difficult for me to handle what happened with the chests of chance. [It] could have been anyone else, but it had to be Reece. Of course, it had to be Reece.
‘We are extremely close, and we will always be, but no, he’s not my son. I wish he was!’

That’s not the only discourse Amanda has inadvertently become wrapped up in.
Before the round table, she finally confessed her secret identity as a professional sleuth to her best friend in the castle, who just so happened to be Traitor Rachel.
Not even Amanda could have predicted the consequences, however.
When Rachel shared this nugget of knowledge with the rest of the cast, fellow Traitor Fiona accused her of lying and being a green-cloaked Judas in front of everyone else – with a tense confrontation tipped for tonight’s turret.
Discussing her decision to tell Rachel, she said: ‘Maybe if I’d stayed a few more days, that trust would have gone.
‘[But] she just seemed like a really level-headed person, and I confided in her, because I trusted her. I’m not ashamed to say that, it’s nothing shameful,’ she explained.
She confided in the hopes she could use the information as a Faithful to ‘rally the troops’, acknowledging that as a Traitor she ‘could also use it for evil’.
As for Fiona’s showdown with Rachel, Amanda first noted that her and Fiona’s connection was ‘more fleeting’, hence why it didn’t cross her mind to reveal her secret to her.
She said: ‘The fallout, wow. I don’t know what to say. I was like: “Oh, my gosh, Fiona, what are you doing? Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.”
‘As a viewer, I look at that situation, and I think, whether you’re team Traitor or team Faithful, that’s your team.’
Despite her years of experience as a detective, in the end, Amanda pointed the finger the wrong way (to the innocent Jade) in what was a five-episode-long crusade.
‘I had a lot of people on my list, and Jade was at my 12 o’clock. She just looked like the weight of the world was on her shoulders, and it was completely the opposite to me.
‘I actually wanted to be a Traitor, and when I didn’t get the hand on my shoulder, I felt like I’d won the lottery. I felt so elated. That was the moment that I realised that I didn’t want to be a Traitor,’ she said.
She shared that there is ‘nothing to go off as evidence’ aside from interactions and facial expressions as she was discussing with retired police officer, the murdered Maz.
Do you think there are any more secret connections?
-
Yes – the clues are all there
-
No – that would be overkill
Since leaving the castle, viewers will be delighted to hear that Jade and Amanda have remained close friends.
‘She was one of the first people, when filming was finished, that I called and said: “I am so so sorry” and she said: “It’s fine, it’s fine. It’s a game.” She understands, she’s a gamer.
‘I made it so hard for her. I just felt so bad.’
Now, though, Amanda is ready to sit back and enjoy the remaining episodes with the rest of us – twists and turns galore.
The Traitors continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
