Sir David Beckham’s long-awaited moment on Hollywood Boulevard is shaping up to be one of the proudest milestones of his post-football career — but behind the scenes, there are quiet fears it could also expose unresolved family tensions with eldest son Brooklyn Beckham.
The former England captain, 50, has been selected for the Hollywood Walk of Fame class of 2025.
This honour follows the global success of his Netflix documentary and cements his crossover from sports icon to entertainer.
His star unveiling is expected to take place in the coming months, before the summer World Cup arrives in the United States.
Yet the celebration may come with an uncomfortable question hanging in the air: whether his eldest son, Brooklyn, will turn up.
Brooklyn lives less than five miles from the proposed ceremony site, sharing a Beverly Hills home with his wife, actress Nicola Peltz.
Despite the proximity, sources say there is concern that lingering strain in the Beckham family could lead to a conspicuous absence on one of Sir David’s most public days yet.
A source told The Sun: ‘Brooklyn snubbing David’s special day will be a very public humiliation as he lives in Hollywood.
‘Of course, David is hopeful the family will have mended their relations by then, especially after he has offered an olive branch to Brooklyn. The rift has been a great cause of heartache.’
The timing is particularly sensitive.
On New Year’s Eve, Beckham shared a heartfelt Instagram post featuring all four of his children, including a smiling throwback image with Brooklyn, captioned: ‘I love you all so much.’
Observers noted that Brooklyn did not publicly respond, despite his mother also reposting the image.
Sir David’s Walk of Fame star will feature his ‘Sir’ title, following his knighthood by King Charles III.
Nominees are given up to two years to schedule their ceremony, allowing the Beckhams time to (hopefully) mend fences before the cameras roll.
This year’s class also includes a varied mix of cultural heavyweights, from punk veterans Green Day to Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain and hip-hop star Busta Rhymes.
The tension between Victoria and David and their eldest son reportedly stems all the way back to his 2022 wedding, which was marred by tension after Nicola reportedly refused to wear one of Victoria’s dress designs.
They managed to patch things up, putting on numerous jolly displays at events and even spending Christmas together in 2024.
However, when Romeo began dating Kim Turnbull, relations are thought to have soured again, since she allegedly dated Brooklyn previously.
Then, in May, while the rest of the family celebrtated at David’s 50th bash, Brooklyn and Nicola were noticeably absent, a source telling Metro that the aspiring chef ‘felt disappointed in himself for not attending,’ while mum Victoria was keen for him to ‘come around’.
Alas, Brooklyn made it clear where his loyalties lie, vowing to always ‘choose’ Nicola, declaring it was the two of them ‘forever’ in a telling Insta caption.
From there, distance between the former photographer and his famous parents has only grew, as neither parent made an appearance when he and Nicola renewed their vows in the summer.
