The Traitors fans spot fatal error that will ‘blow the game wide open’

After another tense episode of The Traitors filled with twists and turns, fans believe our two green-cloaked snakes have put themselves in mortal peril.

Saturday night’s episode of the BBC reality series, hosted by the inimitable Claudia Winkleman, was so tense you could cut it with a knife. The roundtable was heated, with accusations being flung all around the place.

In the end, the Faithfuls nabbed their first Traitor after voting out Hugo thanks to a campaign spearheaded by secret barrister Harriet.

The celebrations were short-lived, however, with everyone all too aware that this could be the last night in the castle with another murder on the way.

But, in a twist towards the end of the episode, Claudia gave the remaining Traitors, Rachel and Stephen, their first in-plain-sight task. They had to use red paint to mark nine people on the family tree in the foyer – with all of those chosen up for murder.

Unfortunately, the pressure of the task proved a lot for the pair and, at one point, they found themselves in front of the tree with fellow contestant Reece.

In a suspicious moment, Rachel awkwardly says to Stephen: ‘Speaking of dangerous, I need to give you a heads up on something…’

Reece astutely senses that he is no longer welcome in this conversation and offers to leave so the two of them can chat.

After some more lingering and fretting, in which the pair promise not to stab each other in the back, Rachel eventually steps up to the mark and places the dreaded dots on the family tree.

Naturally, fans have immediately pointed out that Reece will throw them under the bus as soon as the red dots on the family tree are noticed and one of their number is murdered.

The only possible saving grace would be them murdering Reece before he mentions his suspicious conversation to anyone – which puts him at high risk for saying sayonara at breakfast next week.

Although, since there is no murder tonight, they are far from safe yet.

‘Possibly the MOST stupid Traitors moment in the history of the entire series. Like what is this amateur hour?’ Wando wrote on X.

‘Rachel, you and Stephen have already blown your game wide open. Unless this secret traitor is Reece,’ Maddi said.

‘Surely they’re screwed if they don’t murder Reece??’ Niamhcanyoubeliamh added.

‘Rachel asking Reece to leave so she could talk to Stephen is gonna be both their undoing I’m afraid,’ Otega echoed.

‘At the start [Ross] was saying he was too irrelevant to be murdered and now he’s basically got the game in his hands,’ ash shared.

‘They must murder Reece or they are screwed unless he’s the secret traitor!’ Suzie declared.

In peril or not, the only silver lining for the conniving pair is that completing the task means that they get to meet the Secret Traitor and join forces after several episodes of being controlled by them.

So, come Wednesday, our red-cloaked sleuth will be unveiled.

Next week, we could also find out if there are any more family connections, as some viewers have predicted, including a surprise link between Ross and Ellie.

The Traitors will return on Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One.
