Celebrities going to space and AI’s Hollywood takeover aside, it’s also been a huge year for family feuds.
Over the last 12 months, we’ve watched with popcorn in hand as cracks began forming in the once-tightest of family units, even the most polished of showbiz relations proving everyone has a breaking point.
From the Beckhams’ slow-burning rift culminating in a surprise social media blocking to the Peaty wedding drama that engulfed the nation, the stars have been on hand to remind us this year that, to be honest, they’re just like us.
Chances are, if you had a row in your household on Christmas Day, they did too (but you won’t see that on Instagram).
We revisit the biggest family feuds of 2025 – plus the years-long dispute that came to a surprising end.
What has been in the air this year?
David and Victoria Beckham vs Brooklyn Beckham
The battle of the Beckhams has a layered history, as you may recall, with Brooklyn Beckham’s 2022 wedding to actress Nicola Peltz marred by tension after Nicola reportedly refused to wear one of Victoria Beckham’s dress designs.
They managed to patch things up, putting on numerous jolly displays at events and even spending Christmas together in 2024.
However, when Romeo began dating Kim Turnbull, relations are thought to have soured again, since she allegedly dated Brooklyn previously.
Then, in May, while the likes of Tom Cruise partied the night away at David’s 50th bash, Brooklyn and Nicola were noticeably absent, a source telling Metro that the aspiring chef ‘felt disappointed in himself for not attending’, while mum Victoria was keen for him to ‘come around’.
Alas, Brooklyn made it clear where his loyalties lie, vowing to always ‘choose’ Nicola, declaring it was the two of them ‘forever’ in a telling Insta caption.
From there, distance between the former photographer and his famous parents only grew, as both were struck off the guest list when he and Nicola renewed their vows in the summer.
Nicola’s billionaire family was present, though, with Brooklyn making sure to shout them out in his speech.
The aftermath involved plenty of mud-slinging from younger brothers Cruz and Romeo in some cryptic posts, Brooklyn covering a tattoo dedicated to his mum, and, finally, the big one – the unfollowing… or so it seemed.
While the world was initially under the impression that David and Victoria had ‘unfollowed’ Brooklyn on Instagram, Cruz later claimed he and his parents suddenly ‘woke up blocked’ by him.
‘NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son… Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked… as did I,’ blasted the 20-year-old.
Consequently, Brooklyn no longer follows any immediate family members but does follow his paternal grandparents, as well as David’s two sisters, his mum’s mum, and her sister.
It’ll come as no surprise that Brooklyn spent Christmas in the States with Nicola. It remains to be seen whether any olive branches could be extended in 2026.
Commenting on the highly publicised feud, Simone Bell, Dip. Therapeutic Counselling, MBACP, who works with those navigating troubled relationships, says living in the spotlight can make everyday tussles much bigger in the celebrity world.
‘In my counselling room, people dealing with family breakdown are given private space to sit with difficult emotions, say the messy things, and work through feelings without judgement or an audience. Celebrities don’t get that. Their pain is often processed in real time, through headlines and social media, which can feel like trial by public opinion.
‘An unfollow, a missed birthday, or an empty seat at a wedding quickly becomes a storyline, and that kind of scrutiny adds pressure where there’s already emotion, history, and hurt.’
Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty vs the Peatys
On December 27, Olympic swimming champ Adam Peaty wed Gordon Ramsay’s daughter at Bath Abbey – but the lead-up to their big day was anything but blissful.
Instead, Adam’s mother, Caroline, was reportedly banned from the ceremony, having initially planned to gatecrash and ‘watch from the street’ instead before deciding that would be ‘too upsetting’.
Eyebrows were initially raised when Holly’s then-future mother-in-law was absent from her hen do, with the drama spilling over into the wedding itself, as Caroline admitted her family felt ‘broken’.
She added to the Daily Mail: ‘I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out.’
It’s been said that Adam felt his mother was enabling his older brother’s actions, as James Peaty was arrested following the athlete’s Budapest stag do for allegedly sending him threats.
Upon returning to Manchester Airport, Adam was escorted through by police for his safety, and a statement confirmed that a 34-year-old man had been arrested ‘on suspicion of harassment’.
The 2021 Strictly star has not publicly addressed the situation with James specifically, writing in a social media statement in November that he, Holly, and sister Bethany, the only immediate relative he’s seemingly remained close with, ‘cannot go into detail given an ongoing police investigation into serious matters that arose long before recent events’.
His relationship with his parents is now thought to be at an ‘all-time low’, with Caroline’s sister, Louise, also hitting out, raging that she ‘expected better’ of the lovebirds.
Still, Adam has been welcomed warmly by his in-laws, with chef Gordon taking a swipe in his father-of-the-bride speech, saying his wife, Tana, ‘will be a good mum to them both’.
So with Adam having also changed his name and gone double-barrel, it looks like he’s keen for a fresh slate as he begins married life.
‘When you’re a family in the public eye, there’s very little room to disagree quietly or take time to cool off,’ adds Simone. ‘Things that would normally stay behind closed doors become public fodder; a blocked account becomes a “side,” an invitation becomes a loyalty test.
‘We’ve seen that with the Peaty family, where wedding decisions many families struggle with privately suddenly carry huge meaning in public, and where everyone has an opinion.’
Freddy Brazier vs Jeff Brazier
The ups and downs of the Brazier clan were seemingly never-ending this year, beginning with Jeff taking legal action to prevent son Freddy from seeing grandmother Jackiey Budden, citing concerns for his well-being.
Freddy, 21, proceeded to slate Jeff in the press, declaring to the Daily Mail that he ‘doesn’t want to see’ his father, accusing him of being image-obsessed without consideration for ‘his own sons’.
The younger Brazier brother also claimed Bobby, 22, and Jeff had a strained relationship, while the 2023 Strictly star insisted his sibling needed to ‘grow up’.
Freddy was, however, open to reconciliation, admitting he needed to enter rehab due to starting smoking aged 12, which his nan ‘introduced’ him to, and saying he wants to ‘be clean so [he] can live happily and have healthy relationships with people and be there for all of [his] family’.
What eventually brought everyone back together was Freddy’s girlfriend’s unexpected pregnancy, as he turned to his dad for advice.
According to sources, Jeff was ‘extremely supportive’ of his son and ‘one of the first people [Freddy] confided in’.
Although paternal bridges have been built, Freddy and partner Holly Swinburn ended up splitting ahead of becoming parents.
Presenter Jeff also experienced his own romantic turbulence, separating from wife of seven years Kate Dwyer amid the turmoil with his sons.
‘With the Braziers, there’s also grief and long-term emotional pain involved, which makes public commentary even more complicated,’ says Simone, referencing Jade Goody’s 2009 death, after which Jeff raised both boys.
‘When loss, mental health, and family strain are part of the picture, the spotlight certainly doesn’t help, and it often hardens positions rather than softens them.’
…but not Liam Gallagher vs Noel Gallagher?
Writing an article about family feuds and not mentioning the Gallagher brothers feels wrong, but, for once, they’re actually doing the opposite.
Noel and younger brother Liam hadn’t performed together since Oasis’ 2009 split, meaning the world was sent into a frenzy last August when they confirmed the guns had ‘fallen silent’.
The siblings kicked off their sold-out reunion shows in July – despite not having rehearsed together mere days before the gig – with Noel reduced to ‘tears’ by the historic moment.
Truly, the sight of Noel and Liam walking out holding hands was one to behold, and the High Flying Birds star went a step further by hailing Liam as ‘amazing’ while speaking on TalkSport, adding: ‘Liam’s smashing it. I’m proud of him.’
They toured the world until November, concluding in Brazil, and while Liam insisted they are ‘not doing anything’ in 2026, rumours of new music continue swirling.
‘What I find interesting is that at the same time we’re seeing all these rifts, we’ve seen the Gallagher brothers repair theirs,’ notes Simone. ‘That’s an awesome reminder that distance doesn’t have to be permanent.
‘Family rifts don’t mean relationships are broken forever, but repair rarely happens in public. It usually needs privacy, honesty, and a willingness to stop performing the relationship for everyone else.’
