Jessie J may have just dropped a new album but she’s eyeing up a potential career change in 2026.
Despite this year being particularly tough for Jessie after her cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgeries.
The Price Tag singer, 37, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, revealed she was diagnosed with ‘early breast cancer’ in June.
Throughout her journey, she’s been incredibly open with fans about her highs and lows, always leading with her signature sense of humour.
So it’s only natural that Jessie teased that she would ‘love to go into stand up’ alongside her singing career.
Speaking on Women’s Health podcast, Just As Well, she shared: ‘ I would love to do comedy more. I’d love to do film. I’m obviously touring a lot next year.’
If anyone is going to find the time to tour, star in a movie, and launch a stand up career, it’s Jessie, who two years ago was diagnosed with ADHD.
Fans of her music shouldn’t worry, though, as Jessie ‘definitely’ wants to make more music, revealing she hasn’t written a song for three years.
Don’t Tease Me With A Good Time was recorded over a five-year period in Los Angeles, with lead track Threw It Away written in 2020.
The album features a reference to ex Channing Tatum, who she split with shortly before recording, but remains amicable with.
It marked her first new music since 2018’s R.O.S.E. — and a Christmas album — but was her first self-released album after parting ways with Republic Records.
Jessie knows her future songs are ‘all there, ready to come out’ but is focusing on being happy and present for her little boy, Sky.
She and partner Chanan Safir Colman welcomed their son in May 2023, with Jessie sharing candid posts about her recovery post-partum.
‘Happy, sane, enjoying what I do, calm, healthy, being as present as a mum as I am as at work with some decent tunes out,’ she concluded.
‘And maybe doing something that challenges me, whether it’s a book or a children’s album or comedy or Broadway or film, whatever’s going to come will come.’
Jessie announced at this year’s Capital Summertime Ball that it would be her last show before she underwent surgery.
She underwent a mastectomy, which the Domino singer joked had left her with ‘wonky boobs’, creating a little difficulty with her outfits until she ‘matches them up’.
Her diagnosis meant she had to postpone (and cancel) part of her upcoming tour, with shows continuing next year in China, Canada, and the US.
